Position Summary
This position is responsible for assisting with our Information Security and Risk Management practices company-wide. Responsibilities include: implementing and maintaining classified and unclassified computer systems security requirements and participating in security compliance audits and vulnerability assessments on information systems.? This position will coordinate and conduct security education programs for user community and helps facilitate and oversee the systems accreditation in accordance with the appropriate regulatory guidance and coordinate the proper de-certification of classified system and media.? They will also help coordinate and participate in the investigation and mitigation of information system contaminations.?
Primary Responsibilities
- Responsible for performing the following:
- Periodic log reviews and system reviews
- System logs reviews, as necessary for selected platforms
- Firewall configuration reviews
- Web application reviews
- Windows/AIX/Linux system log reviews
- Database activity reviews
- Host-based and network-based intrusion detection system reviews
- Router configuration reviews
- Physical access security reviews.
- Conducts policy compliance reviews to ensure systems are meeting defined standards.
- Evaluates requirements for security technologies and determine if they meet them.
- Helps establish and maintain minimum security baseline procedures which will then effect the eventual rollout of future operating systems.
- Maintains the department’s Security Issue Tracking system which is used to document all security-related items that need resolution.
- Conducts assessment of systems patch status.
- Conducts periodic vulnerability scans and maintains the external automated scanning system.
- Produces weekly vulnerability scanning reports for management distribution.
- Maintains the Security Tasks Database and ensures it is up to date.
- Maintains standard build configuration templates in the corporate compliance configuration software.
- Produces reports needed for meeting with Infrastructure teams.
- Processes vendor management periodic security reviews.
- Compiles monthly Mission Excellence Goals and other security-related metrics.
Secondary Responsibilities
- Performs other duties as requested by management.
Relationships/Contacts
Works with IT staff, sales and production teams, management, vendors and customers.
Leadership/Supervisory Responsibilities
This position does not supervise anyone.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Assurance, or related field.
- Working knowledge of Windows, Linux, AIX, IDS/IPS, firewalls, Oracle and SQL databases, and routers.
- Must have an understanding how key security technologies function such as SIM (Security Information Management), NIDS (Network Intrusion Detection Services), Vulnerability Scanning tools, Virtual Penetration testing, Forensic Data Analysis, Application level firewalls, and Data Loss Prevention.
- Ability to understand business requirements and translate them into security solutions.
- Understanding of basic networking.
- Ability to learn the operation of new software applications.
- Ability to communicate technical and security-related concepts to a broad range of technical and non-technical staff.
- Strong written and oral communication skills.
- Ability to work well with others.
- Detail oriented and organized.
