Sr. Software Quality Assurance Analyst Job

Position Summary

Under limited supervision, this senior level position is responsible for carrying out procedures to ensure that all software application products meet organization standards and end-user requirements.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Responsible for all aspects of software testing on assigned projects.
  • Execute projects by creating test plans, determining testability of requirements and conformance to documented specifications.
  • Responsible for creating test condition matrices and detailed, positive and negative test cases.
  • Creates and maintains automated test scripts.
  • Execute test cases, capture results and anomalies, track anomalies through to resolution, conduct anomaly review meetings as needed.
  • Validates testing by creating database queries and viewing the database.
  • Participate in status and steering meetings.
  • Facilitates user acceptance testing
  • Creates testing results documentation containing key metrics.
  • Reports task progress and effort hours expended.
  • Reviews work of team members to ensure highest level of quality.
  • Documents and works to resolve problems.
  • Reports problem resolution to management.
  • Provides testing effort estimates.
  • Performs workflow analysis and recommends quality improvements.
  • Devises improvements to current procedures.
  • Creates and modifies automated test scripts.
  • Creates detailed test cases, written at a level of detail that a tester unfamiliar with the system could execute.
  • Estimates SQA projects.
  • Performs all SQA work on assigned projects.
  • Interprets a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

Secondary Responsibilities

  • May include up to 10% travel, including international.
  • Performs other duties as requested by management

Relationships/Contacts

Works with infrastructure, sales and application development teams. Communicates with managers and customers.

Leadership/Supervisory Responsibilities

This position does not supervise anyone.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree with a minimum of eight years software testing experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Five years minimum experience using UNIX command line, vi, etc.
  • Four years minimum experience testing as part of agile software development methods.
  • Two years minimum experience in performance testing, testing web services, Test Director/Quality Center,
  • Experience managing projects and the ability to prioritize tasks across multiple projects.
  • Conflict resolution and problem solving skills are essential.
  • Flexibility and the ability to get involved in any type of project.
  • Ability to analyze software products with no requirements and determine what is needed to complete the testing.
  • Experience testing on open system platforms.
  • Ability to escalate issues to the appropriate parties when necessary.
  • Ability to execute test plans including back-end testing using SQL.
  • Experience facilitating defect resolution.
  • Experience interfacing with development and project management staff as well as senior level executives.
  • Ability to translate business and functional requirements into a test plan and test cases.
  • Strong understanding of software quality standards and methodologies.
  • ETL experience desired.
  • Exploratory Testing experience strongly desired.
  • Informatica experience desired.
  • Load Runner experience desired.
  • Programming, especially Java and C experience desired.
  • Quick Test Pro (QTP) experience desired.
  • TOAD experience desired.
  • Ability and willingness to work as part of a team.
  • Excellent computer skills, including Microsoft Office suite.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent problem solving skills.

Other Requirements

Some after-hours and weekend work is expected, depending on workload.
